Hey everyone,

Okay first question is: does anyone know the size of the wrench that goes into the holes on the top of the bridge saddles? I've heard 1.5mm somewherem at some betoken in time. Not sure if that was correct of non. Besides, does anyone know where I tin find ane? I've been trying to raise the action on my '99 Strat and tin can't discover a wrench. Plus, two of our local guitar shops didn't have 1, kinda odd but okay. Anyway, cheers for whatever help!

I would say anywhere that sells tools... Home Depot, Lowe's, heck even Wal-Mart wil have them. Check out this link to Stewart-McDonald... this is what y'all need to get... both metric and SAE... sooner or afterward yous will demand all of them.

The Wal Mart here has a piddling cheap gear up of allen wrenches for .99 cents that has metric and standard in it in a trivial vinyl pouch. That'southward what I do my setups with. All my skillful stuff is at my garage.

Hey everyone,

Okay start question is: does anyone know the size of the wrench that goes into the holes on the tiptop of the span saddles? I've heard one.5mm somewherem at some point in time. Non sure if that was correct of not. Besides, does anyone know where I can find ane? I've been trying to raise the activity on my '99 Strat and can't find a wrench. Plus, two of our local guitar shops didn't have one, kinda odd but okay. Anyway, thanks for any help!

an american strat should use a .05" wrench for the acme screws. if your doing your own setups, a prepare of metric and sae hex wrenches, aka allen (which is a brand) wrenches, are worth their weight in gold. i have a gear up of craftsman in both and they have a case that the wrenches snap into and they're worth their weight in golden, peculiarly when working on squiers that have a wide array of truss rod nut sizes

0.1875" is what Fender indicates on the specs sail for the Standard Stratotcaster

0.1875" is way too large for my Mexican Strat action adjustment screws at the bridge. Perchance y'all are referring to the action adjustment through the back where the neck joins the body. At the bridge, ane/16" and 1.5 mm were too large. 0.05" (1.27 mm) is a little as well small, merely information technology worked. Information technology helps to slacken the string, conform the pinnacle, and re-tune. Information technology is all the same a mystery to me. Everyone?

The merely standard metric size in that range is 1.five mm,
and the only english language size is .05.

The metric 1.five mm is about .060, and and so if it didn't fit, the screw would be .05.
If the .05 was too pocket-size, it was probably due to a rounded out screw socket, or
a rounded off wrench.

Standard hex keys (allen wrenches) and socket head screws are quite hard.
But the screws in guitars and the keys that are normally supplied with them
are softer metal. They're intended for adjusting, and not torquing down, and so
information technology'south generally non a trouble. Merely they can get rounded off and fit loose.

You could try a new .05 key. If still loose, and a expert 1.5 mm is too big, then
new screws would be the fix.

It's unfortunate that hex keys are only bachelor in sets, or x pc quantities
for a single size. If you accept use for a set, they're not all that expensive.
It is expensive if all you lot need is that i little size, though.

If you do buy a set, become Bondhus, Eklind, or Allen.

Oh, and don't go ball-end keys. They're good for reaching screws at an angle,
but volition strip or circular out a screw easier.

I spent similar. eleven bucks or and so and got every size Allen wrench you could ever employ on a guitar. Metric and otherwise. Simply to brand it articulate that I will tell those truss rod plugs who's boss.

All the standard sets bachelor in home improvement stores but go downward to 1.5. I have yet to find the .05 I need for my bridge aligning. I have one left that came with my segment set from GFS, but would like a backup. Tin can't seem to observe one...

I bought a screwdriver set at Wal-Mart chosen
ULTRASTEEL 44 PIECE PRECISION SCREDRIVER Flake SET.

It has all dissimilar sizes of allen, star, philips and apartment head bits. Works great for all my guitars and small enough to fit in my gig case. Just paid like $vi for it and it has been wonderful.

Well, it it had a 1.5mm in information technology then it was a metric set up, the .050 is an SAE/imperial size so should be in a different set, but information technology you are looking at the "bladed" kind where they are all attached to a handle they swing out of, they normally don't get that small.

If your screws have rounded out holes/heads, I would strongly suggest getting replacements ready for the next time you have the strings off. If they strip out completely it becomes much less convenient to replace them
